In a showdown of nationally ranked teams, the BU men’s soccer team plays host to Brown University on Thursday, September 14, at Nickerson Field. The 7 p.m. game is another opportunity for Icelandic sophomore sensation Petur Sigurdsson to freeze the competition with his heroics.

Sigurdsson (CGS’07), named America East Player of the Week on September 4 after tallying four goals in BU’s first three games, has a flair for the dramatic. He scored the tying goals against Boston College and UMass, contests the Terriers won and tied, respectively. He also broke a scoreless tie in BU’s road win over Georgia Southern, and eight minutes later scored again for the first multigoal game of his career.

BU, tied with Memphis and Central Connecticut State for number 23 in the NSCAA/Adidas Poll, appears in the national poll for the first time since 2004. Brown, ranked 17th in the nation, won the Ivy League championship last year before bowing to eventual national champion Maryland, 1-0, in the NCAA tournament.
