Aviva Gat

Aviva Gat (CAS’10, COM’10) of Manhattan Beach, Calif., self-published My Family’s Survival (2019), which tells the story of her ancestors’ Holocaust survival. “I learned many of the skills used to write this during my years studying in COM,” she writes. “The book is about my grandmother and her family, who lived in a small village in Poland. First, the Russians came and kicked them out of their house. Then, the Nazis wanted to cart them off. But my family resisted and decided to escape rather than follow Nazi orders. The book details their miraculous escape and their trials throughout the war.”
