Barbara Hirth Skelly
Barbara Hirth Skelly (CFA’65) of Seattle, Wash., published Treasure Houses: Stories of Precious Gems and Diamonds in the Rough (CreateSpace, 2018). “This memoir takes the reader on a roller- coaster ride of my life as an artist, an art therapist, and a licensed mental health counselor and addresses the challenges I have faced as a wounded healer,” she writes. After graduating from BU, Barbara earned an MFA from the University of Washington and an MA in psychology from Antioch University Seattle. One of her paintings, Peyton with Flower, was awarded a grant by the Ryan Licht Sang Bipolar Foundation and exhibited in the show Insights II: An Art Exhibition of Creativity and the Bipolar Brain at the Zolla/Lieberman Gallery in Chicago in 2018, and will be included in the foundation’s permanent exhibition. She continues to create and exhibit her artwork nationally and maintains a private practice in expressive arts therapy in the Seattle area. Contact her at barbske@msn.com.
