Claudia Stevens

Claudia Stevens (CFA’77) of Oakland, Calif., is a librettist whose new opera, Howards End, America, based on E. M. Forster’s novel, explores issues of race, equality, love, and betrayal. The opera updates Forster’s novel from Edwardian England to 1950s McCarthy-era Boston. Presented by new music ensemble Earplay and RealOpera, the production ran in February 2019 in San Francisco.
