Maria Kent Beers

Maria Kent Beers (CGS’08, COM’10) of Charlestown, Mass., and her husband, Michael Beers (CGS’08, CAS’10), founded Art for Amalia, in honor of her mother, Amalia Kent. At 52, Amalia was diagnosed with the brain disorder frontotemporal degeneration, for which there is no treatment or cure. Amalia, who can no longer communicate, was passionate about art and art journaling. The new organization’s mission is to share her art and spread awareness of the disease.
