Award-winning filmmaker Martin Doblmeier (COM’80) is president and founder of Journey Films, which has produced more than 30 documentaries since 1983. His latest, Backs Against the Wall: The Howard Thurman Story, aired on PBS in February 2019. Thurman (Hon.’67), dean of BU’s Marsh Chapel from 1953 to 1965, was the first black dean at a mostly white American university. He was a mentor to and an influence on many civil rights leaders, including Martin Luther King, Jr. (GRS’55, Hon.’59). Learn more about Martin’s work at journeyfilms.com.
