Dan Pinnolis

Lecturer in Art, Graphic Design

Dan is a multidisciplinary designer and educator who focuses on storytelling, time-based media, and entrepreneurship. As a Part-time Lecturer at Boston University and Visual Designer at MIT Sloan Management Review, he is interested in bringing together academia and industry.

At Boston University, Dan works with the Design Lab, a professional development initiative. Collaborating with the BUild Lab and Harvard Innovation Labs, the Design Lab serves as a university-based design studio that connects design students with student startup companies. Throughout the semester, students gain work experience, build their portfolios, and expand their professional networks by engaging with startups and the thriving Boston design community.

Drawing from his background at Harvard University, MIT, and Boston University, and in his past role as an advisor to student startups at Harvard Innovation Labs, Dan bridges the gap between higher education, business, and design. His goal is to help entrepreneurs, innovators, and designers bring their ideas to life. Dan’s approach to teaching revolves around hands-on learning experiences, providing real-world assignments and industry insights.

Dan earned his MFA in Graphic Design from Boston University and his BS in Studio Art from Skidmore College
