Camaron Engels (\u201917) <\/strong>was 10\u2014and watching a stage production of The Lion King <\/em>with his grandmother\u2014when he realized he wanted to be an actor. \u201cI saw a little Black boy dancing and having fun on the stage that looked exactly like me,\u201d he says. \u201cI almost got kicked out because I was literally jumping up and down in my seat saying, \u2018I can do that.\u2019\u201d Since graduating from CFA, he has been making his way in Hollywood, appearing in television shows and films like Malibu Rescue: The Next Wave<\/em><\/a> and American Pie Presents: Girls\u2019 Rules<\/em><\/a>. He will appear in the upcoming Netflix thriller miniseries, Clickbait<\/em>, about the dark side of social media, and starred as Romeo in the modern-day adaptation of William Shakespeare\u2019s Romeo and Juliet<\/em>, R#J<\/em><\/a>, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did you train prior to coming to BU?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

I started training at the age of 10. I attended the Lee Strasberg Institute for five years and learned about method acting while there, and I went to the Stella Adler Studio of Acting for about a year. I also did some acting programs at NYU for a couple of months. Once I got to BU, we learned every single technique. Their ideology was, \u201cWe\u2019ll give you everything you need, and then you decide what works best for you.\u201d My training at BU gave me more tools to put on my tool belt of techniques, and helped me dig deeper and be one with my character. CFA also taught me how to work with an ensemble, and how to handle high-stakes situations and still give a strong performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
