As the play explores the monstrosity of humans and the humanity of monsters, we are reminded that love transcends gender and our physical being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oskar is a bullied, lonely teenage boy living with his mother at the edge of town when a number of sinister killings rock the neighborhood. Eli is the young girl who has just moved in next door. She doesn\u2019t go to school and never leaves the apartment by day. Sensing in each other a kindred spirit, the two become devoted friends. Oskar and Eli specifically. It reminds us that some people just existing in space can be harrowing. In the play, the horror resonates from the &#8216;normal&#8217; people,&#8221; says <a href=\"https:\/\/id-andrea.cms-devl.bu.edu\/cfa\/about\/contact-directions\/directory\/christopher-edwards\/\">Christopher V. Edwards<\/a>, a CFA senior lecturer and artistic director of Actors&#8217; Shakespeare Project (ASP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"has-white-color has-text-color\">What drew you to <em>Let the Right One In<\/em> for CFA and SOT&#8217;s first collaboration with ASP?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-white-color\">&#8220;Actors&#8217; Shakespeare Project has always found it important to engage with and help young artists who want to do this crazy thing we call theatre. Also the story of loneliness for the characters in the play resonates with young people, well actually all people, who deal with loneliness. Edwards<\/a>&nbsp;is a CFA senior lecturer, better known around Boston as the artistic director of ASP. He brought on board five professional actors\u2014including Richard Snee (GRS\u201908) as Hakan, Eli\u2019s protector\u2014to work alongside the undergraduate cast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The School of Theatre also brought in Pittsburgh-based special effects ace&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/tolinfx.com\/\">Steve Tolin<\/a>&nbsp;to give a workshop and contribute his skills to the production. Tolin is known for his work on and off-Broadway, including Stephen Sondheim\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Sweeney Todd<\/em>&nbsp;and several works by English playwright Martin McDonagh&nbsp;<em>(The Pillowman)<\/em>.
