Throughout the summer, we added information weekly pertaining to skill development, college resources, health &amp; wellness, and more. [updated link needed]<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>At BUTI, we offer a variety of different music theory courses for all levels throughout all programs. The concepts described in Mr. Casinghino\u2019s list are used in post-tonal theory for the Young Artists Composition Program at BUTI. It is not necessary that students know these terms and concepts prior to attending BUTI.<br \/>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" id=\"grey\" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h5 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Scholarships for Music Students<\/h5><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\n<span>Studying music can be both deeply rewarding and financially difficult. Earning a scholarship can relieve some financial burden allowing musicians to focus more on their chosen field. That\u2019s why it is especially important to search for additional scholarships to support your studies.\u00a0<\/span><span>With that in mind, check out some scholarships that music students should know about.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chopin.org\/requirements\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chopin Foundation of the U.S.<\/a><\/h5>\n<p><span>The purpose of the Chopin Foundation Scholarship Program is to support and encourage young, talented American pianists between the ages of 14-17 through up to four years of preparation for the National Chopin Piano Competition of the United States, which is held in Miami, Florida, every five years.<\/span><span><\/span><\/p>\n<h5><a href=\"https:\/\/www.davidsongifted.org\/fellows-scholarship\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Davidson Fellows Scholarship<\/a><\/h5>\n<p><span>The Davidson Fellows Scholarship awards $50,000, $25,000 and $10,000 scholarships to gifted and high-achieving students, 18 years old or under, who have completed a significant piece of work. Application categories are <\/span>Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Literature, Music, Philosophy and\u00a0Outside the Box.<span><\/span><\/p>\n<h5><a href=\"https:\/\/www.icebergnewmusic.com\/young-composer-award\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ICEBERG New Music Young Composers Awards<\/a><\/h5>\n<p>These awards are intended to reward composers and music-makers of exceptional ability who hail from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds. Winners will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Awardees may be active in any musical style\/genre.<\/p>\n<h5><a href=\"https:\/\/fromthetop.org\/apply\/scholarship-opportunity-jack-kent-cooke-young-artist-award\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award<\/a><\/h5>\n<p><span>In addition to performing on NPR\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><i><span>From the Top,\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span>recipients of the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award\u00a0receive up to $10,000 to help offset the costs of studying classical music at a high level. Each year, we choose approximately 20 exceptional pre-collegiate musicians ages 8-18 to receive the Award.<\/span><span><\/span><\/p>\n<h5><a href=\"https:\/\/www.liftupourvoices.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lift Up Our Voices<\/a><\/h5>\n<p><span>The<\/span><i><span>\u00a0Lift Up Our Voices<\/span><\/i><span>\u00a0Scholarship focuses on broadening the number of female-identifying students and students of color in the field of music composition.\u00a0<\/span><span><\/span><\/p>\n<h5>Marine Band Concerto Competition<\/h5>\n<p><span>\u201cThe President\u2019s Own\u201d United States Marine Band, in conjunction with the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation and NAfME, announces the Marine Band Concerto Competition for high school musicians.<\/span><span><\/span><\/p>\n<h5><a href=\"https:\/\/www.musiccenter.org\/education\/spotlight\/Spotlight\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Music Center\u2019s Spotlight<\/a><\/h5>\n<p><span>Southern California High School students of ALL skill levels are encouraged to apply for free. Much more than a competition, Spotlight is a scholarship and arts training program,\u00a0which empowers students by emphasizing preparation, courage, critical thinking and perseverance while providing an invaluable opportunity for students to hone their skills!\u00a0$100,000 in cash scholarships are awarded each year to students.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kennedy-center.org\/education\/opportunities-for-artists\/competitions-and-commissions\/vsa-international-young-soloists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">VSA International Young Soloists Award Program<\/a><\/h5>\n<p><span>Each year outstanding young musicians with disabilities from around the world receive the VSA International Young Soloists Award and the opportunity to perform at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
