You will have the opportunity to work with faculty that have established careers as chamber musicians and fellow serious student string players. Co-directed by <a href=\"http:\/\/id-andrea.cms-devl.bu.edu\/cfa\/about\/contact-directions\/directory\/peter-zazofsky\/\">Peter Zazofsky<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/id-andrea.cms-devl.bu.edu\/cfa\/about\/contact-directions\/directory\/daniel-dona\/\">Daniel Do\u00f1a<\/a>, the coaching faculty includes members of the celebrated <a href=\"https:\/\/muirstringquartet.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Muir String Quartet<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/arneisquartet.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arneis String Quartet<\/a>, as well as faculty from BU and the Boston Symphony Orchestra.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Each student undertakes an in-depth study of two master works of the string quartet literature, one each week. Repertoire selection and group assignments for the first week are determined prior to the start of the season based on audition recordings, while second-week rotation of personnel and repertoire is decided by faculty based on their observations during the first week<\/li>\n<li>Repertoire ranges from the early works of Beethoven, Haydn, and Mozart to more contemporary quartets by <span>Bart\u00f3k<\/span>, Shostakovich,\u00a0 Schulhoff, and composers of our time<\/li>\n<li>String orchestra reading each morning to provide students with a comprehensive overview of all string quartets assigned for that year\u2019s workshop<\/li>\n<li>Morning and afternoon chamber coachings with two different faculty members<\/li>\n<li>Master classes giving groups an opportunity to perform for and receive feedback from the entire faculty cohort<\/li>\n<li>Each week culminates with a student recital where all groups perform selected movements from their assigned repertoire<\/li>\n<li>Access to the Tanglewood Music Festival<\/li>\n<li>2 hours of transferable course credit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Related Programs<\/h4>\n<p>BUTI encourages you to apply to every program for which you&#8217;re interested and eligible. Any student applying for scholarship must complete the scholarship section of the admissions application, even if only applying for a merit-based award (the scholarship application is found within the digital admissions application).
