Additional upcoming highlights include La Traviata and Le Nozze di Figaro for The Boston Conservatory; new-works residency at Brandeis University with experimental opera company Guerilla Opera; touring production of Montsalvatge\u2019s El Gato con Botas in a co-production with The Boston Conservatory and OperaHub; a new production of Elena Langer\u2019s Four Sisters for Boston Opera Collaborative; and continued collaboration with live performance at Museum of Fine Arts \u2013 Boston.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><span><span class=\"color_11\">2014-15 season highlights include\u00a0The Rake\u2019s Progress\u00a0(Boston Conservatory);\u00a0La Calisto\u00a0(Simpson College);\u00a0<b><i>Song of the Mud: Music of WW1\u00a0<\/i><\/b>(Museum of Fine Arts \u2013\u00a0Boston).<b><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><span><span class=\"color_11\">2013-14 season highlights include\u00a0Voyage \u00e0 Paris\u00a0and the Boston premi\u00e9re of\u00a0Sumeida\u2019s Song\u00a0(Boston Opera Collaborative);\u00a0The Rape of Lucretia\u00a0and\u00a0La voix humaine<em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>(Boston Conservatory);\u00a0Amahl and the Night Visitors\u00a0(Boston University);\u00a0Dido and Aeneas\u00a0(Viterbo University);\u00a0No Exit\u00a0Guerilla Opera). 2012-2013 highlights include\u00a0Transformations\u00a0(Boston Conservatory);\u00a0Riders to the Sea\u00a0(Museum of Fine Arts, Boston);\u00a0A Verdi Celebration with Eric Owens,\u00a0Diamond Dreams\u00a0Glimmerglass Festival).\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><span><span class=\"color_11\">Nathan Troup joined the faculty of The Boston Conservatory in 2011 and currently serves as Associate Director of Opera Studies. His Conservatory directing credits include\u00a0The Rape of Lucretia,\u00a0Transformations,\u00a0L\u2019enfant et les Sortil\u00e8ges,\u00a0L\u2019heure espagnole,\u00a0La voix humaine,\u00a0Flower and Hawk, and\u00a0Riders to the Sea\u00a0at Boston\u2019s Museum of Fine Arts, as well as the children\u2019s operas\u00a0Fables\u2026and other fables\u00a0(which he conceived and curated around Ned Rorem\u2019s mini-operas\u00a0Fables), and\u00a0The Bremen Town Musicians. He is artistic director of the Conservatory\u2019s Children\u2019s Opera series, Troubadours (opera outreach programming), and is a faculty advisor for the Conservatory\u2019s music honor society\u00a0Pi Kappa Lambda. He has spearheaded the department\u2019s partnerships with community cultural organizations including collaborations with Boston\u2019s Museum of Fine Arts, the French Cultural Center of Boston, and the Boston Children\u2019s Museum. In 2014, he joins the Des Moines Metro Opera Apprentice Artist Program staff as stage director and assistant stage director for the company\u2019s 42nd Festival Season and will serve as assistant stage director with Boston Lyric Opera in the 2014-15 season.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><span><span class=\"color_11\">Troup\u2019s work achieved national attention with his original staging of Curtis K. Hughes\u2019\u00a0Say It Ain\u2019t So, Joe\u00a0(based on the Sarah Palin\/Joe Biden 2008 Vice Presidential debates) for Guerilla Opera. His staging of Peter Maxwell Davies\u2019\u00a0Eight Songs for a Mad King\u00a0received the 2009 Best of Boston recognition from the\u00a0Boston Phoenix. \u00a0He has been a guest artist on the faculties of the New England Conservatory,\u00a0 Webster University (St. Louis, MO) and Viterbo University (LaCrosse, WI). Troup also serves on the faculty of Boston University\u2019s Opera Institute where his credits include\u00a0The Traviata Project,\u00a0Dido and Aeneas,\u00a0Gianni Schicchi,\u00a0Fables\u00a0and\u00a0Heggie on Heggie\u00a0with composer Jake Heggie. \u00a0He made his Wolf Trap Opera Company debut in summer 2012 directing the\u00a0Studio Spotlight\u00a0scenes program. He joined The Glimmerglass Festival as a Young Artist Stage Director in summer of 2013 assisting director\/choreographer Jessica Lang (Pergolesi\u2019s\u00a0Stabat Mater) and director Francesca Zambello (David Lang\u2019s\u00a0the little match girl passion). As associate stage director at the Castleton Festival, he has directed William Kerley\u2019s productions of\u00a0Il tabarro,\u00a0Gianni Schicchi\u00a0and\u00a0A Soldier\u2019s Tale\u00a0with choreographer Faye Driscoll and conducted by Maestro Lorin Maazel and\u00a0Master Pedro\u2019s Puppet Show\u00a0in collaboration with New York City\u2019s Puppet Kitchen. \u00a0He has worked as an assistant director for productions at Boston University, Opera Boston, the Castleton Festival, Fort Worth Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera and Boston Lyric Opera.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><span><span class=\"color_11\">An active proponent of new operatic works, he recently served as an artistic consultant for programs by New York City\u2019s American Lyric Theatre and American Opera Projects\u2019 recital series. As a performer Troup has participated in the creation of new staged works in world, American, European and regional premieres in featured performances at Boston\u2019s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and the Institute for Contemporary Art.
