He has performed and recorded with early-music ensembles in Europe and South and North America. After receiving his Bachelor\u2019s Degree in performance from University of Northern Iowa, he earned his Bachelors and Master\u2019s Degree in Historical Performance from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, The Netherlands and a PhD in Musicology from Boston University, where he studied under Joshua Rifkin. David\u2019s research seeks to ground theories and philosophies on early music in performances. His dissertation \u201cWanda, Gould, and Sting: Sounding, Othering, and Hearing Early Music\u201d reframes the movement as a sonically constructed and heard Other Performance ultimately authenticated by the listener.
