Located on Boston University’s West Campus, just a few blocks away from CFA, is Boston Playwrights’ Theatre (BPT)<\/a>. Founded in 1981 by Nobel Laureate Derek Walcott, BPT is an award-winning professional theatre dedicated specifically to new works for the stage. At the core of its five programs is the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Playwriting<\/a>, offered as part of Boston University\u2019s renowned English Department in the College of Arts and Sciences and in collaboration with the BU School of Theatre<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BPT features new plays written by MFA Playwriting students<\/a> and professional playwrights. And our School of Theatre students have the opportunity to act, direct and\/or design the shows. BPT’s alumni have garnered city, regional, and national awards including Elliot Norton and Independent Reviewers of New England Awards for Outstanding New Script.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
