Doctoral Student

Efe Shavers is a doctoral student in applied human development at Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development. She focuses on teacher preparation and student experiences specifically related to culturally sustaining practices.

Before beginning her doctoral studies, Efe worked for over six years as an elementary school counselor, where she designed and implemented a district-wide antiracism curriculum as well as taught professional development for teachers within and out of the school district. Efe also worked with Harvard’s RIDES program from 2015-2019 where she worked in collaboration with schools across the United States and a few Central American countries. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, as well as the American Educational Research Association.
