Stephanie Mikelis

Part-Time Instructor

Dr. Stephanie Mikelis is a part-time lecturer in language & literacy education at Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development, where she teaches courses to pre- and in-service teachers and supervises teacher candidates in the ESL licensure program. Her research focuses on strategies for promoting reasoning-based, collaborative discourse with linguistically diverse students in the mainstream classroom in K–12 settings.
Dr. Mikelis also serves as an instructional coach at Waltham High School, where she offers professional development and works with educators of multilingual learners to create equitable and inclusive learning environments through the implementation of research-based practices and culturally responsive pedagogy. Previously, for over a decade, Dr. Mikelis taught English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses to international undergraduate and graduate students at Harvard University’s Institute for English Language Programs and at the BU Writing Program.
