Dr. Ellen Faszewski is the associate dean for student affairs at Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development. A clinical professor in the Science Education program, she is a cell and developmental biologist whose primary research interests are amphibian development and sponge immunology.<\/p>\n
In her student affairs role, Dr. Faszewski examines the impacts of mergers in higher education on academic engagement and performance, interpersonal relationships, and psychological well-being. She also is passionate about addressing food insecurity on college campuses and, in collaboration with the executive director of the University\u2019s Well-Being Initiative, she successfully obtained funding from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts\/Department of Education to centralize and expand food pantry access and education at the University.<\/p>\n
Dr. Faszewski is an environmental advocate with experience organizing annual events, including the Colleges of the Fenway Muddy River Symposium and Muddy River clean-up. Her work has been recognized by the Maintenance and Management Oversight Committee of the Muddy River Restoration Project and Colleges of the Fenway. She is currently a member of the Muddy Water Initiative Advisory Board. She also uses her passion for STEM education by collaborating with Massachusetts General Hospital\u2019s Youth Scholars STEM Program for rising 10th graders.<\/p>\n
