LAW Professors Ranked Third Best in Country
The Princeton Review praises BU’s “array of courses”

When it comes to quality of professors, BU’s School of Law is the third best in the country, according to the Princeton Review’s latest law school rankings, published in The Best 168 Law Schools. The school also gets high praise for a “breadth of curricula that is matched by few other schools anywhere in the country.”

They are generous with their time and knowledge and dedicated to helping students achieve their full potential.”
In other rankings of the school, the recent Journal of Legal Education article “Where Do Partners Come From?” ranks LAW 12th in the nation for the number of alums who are partners at the top 100 large law firms, 9th for the number of partners at New York law firms, and 2nd for the number of partners at Boston firms. When the study authors looked at which schools contribute significantly to more than one major legal market, LAW came in at number seven. It is also consistently named a “Go-To Law School” in the National Law Journal’s annual “NLJ250” survey, ranking number 21 based on the number of graduates working in the nation’s largest law firms for 2012.
The much-lauded school is soon to be much admired, visually. A planned renovation of LAW’s 265-foot tower, involving interior upgrades and construction of a new west wing, was jump-started last year by two BU trustees. Stephen Zide (LAW’86), managing director of Bain Capital, in New York, gave $1 million, and Richard Cartier Godfrey (LAW’79), a senior partner at the firm Kirkland & Ellis, in Chicago, has given $1.5 million. And in September media giant and former School of Law faculty member Sumner M. Redstone (Hon.’94) gave the school $18 million, a gift that will enable the construction of an addition to LAW’s main tower at the center of the Charles River Campus.
