Welcome to the first episode of “Puppy Love,” a new series that answers your questions about love, sex, and relationships. In each episode, Rhett the Terrier puppet will be joined by a rotating cast of students, faculty, and staff to help solve your romantic questions.

Our first question comes from a student wondering if he should break up with his girlfriend while each will be studying abroad, her in Spain and him in Australia. Should they break up?   2. Love the verdict. That was a serious double standard.

    If you *really* love the person, you’ll make it work. Honestly, if there’s any question as to whether or not you want to try to stay together, I think you need to reevaluate your relationship anyway.

    I’m in one right now (I’m here but my boyfriend is studying in Ireland) and I can tell you it’s not fun, but in our case we both believe it’ll be worth it in the end. Also, I’m lucky enough to get to visit him (in less than two weeks!) which is a nice way of breaking up the time apart. I suppose it completely depends on the nature of your relationship.

    But anyway – best of luck to anyone in this position. It’s hard, but if you really want to make it work, it’s entirely possible.

  4. YES. As an alumna, I pledge to donate five dollars to BU every time a Rhett the puppet video gets made because these videos were seriously my favorite part of undergrad. Also, Rhett unsurprisingly gives really great advice. Everyone should break up all the time!
