Outdoor Market a Feast of Arts, Crafts, and Food
Shop and eat artisanal fare at the Summer Street Plaza

One of Boston’s liveliest and fastest-growing arts and crafts markets is a hop and skip from the MBTA’s South Station stop. Facing out over Dewey Square and the Rose Kennedy Greenway, the twice-weekly Summer Street Arts Market is a seasonal gathering of vendors that has become the city’s largest outdoor art market.
In previous year, the market was held across from Macy’s between Washington and Hawley Streets, but because of construction at the site of the former Filene’s Department Store, the market has been relocated to 125 Summer Street. The Summer Street Arts Market has played an important role in helping to revitalize the area; it is sponsored by the Downtown Boston Business Improvement District, a private nonprofit collective of business and property owners committed to making downtown Boston safe, vibrant, and welcoming.
Here is a sampling of what you can buy under the markets’ signature white tents: artisanal foods, fine arts, fiber arts, ceramics, glassworks, herbal products, jewelry, home décor, clothing, metalworks, woodworks, handbags, and original photography. All items are made by local artists, and artisans change weekly, so shoppers are encouraged to visit often.
The Summer Street Arts Market is open Wednesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., through Friday, October 24.
