  1. Studies show that sugar can give a temporary boost to brain function. People who take a small dose of sugar water perform better in cognitive tests than those who take an artificially sweetened drink or those who drink water alone. So taking something (small candy or granola bar, banana, etc) to snack on just before, or even during, an exam can possibly help performance.
