There are 4 comments on The Myths and Legends Behind the BU Seal

  1. In “Rebel Without a Cause” new kid James Dean unknowingly steps on the high school seal and it’s a problem. Rebel came out in 1955. Feels like the right time frame to associate the new BU Crest with the event from the movie.

  2. I was never superstitious about stepping on the seal, but shortly after arriving on campus, I learned that the seal is pretty slippery when it’s wet! After a few near-slips, I stopped walking on it.

  3. I step on the seal every finals week, it has kind of become a tradition. It’s a fun reminder that I’m in charge of my own destiny instead of the some mysterious forces at BU.
