  1. Thanks for highlighting. In my role at STH I’ve meet many alumni who spoke fondly of Rev. Joe Love. On a related note the School of Theology is honoring Rev. William Alberts GRS’61 with a Distinguished Alumni Award this coming Sept. Among Rev. Alberts’ notable social justice efforts is his willingness to perform a same-sex wedding in 1973. And for the past 15 years he has been writing articles on among other important topics the liberation struggles of LGBTQ persons.     In addition Rev. Gil Caldwell STH’58 was honored with a BU Distinguished Alumni Award in 2016 for his role in the civil rights movement including the fight for equality within the LGBTQ community.

    These are just two examples of BU alumni involved in LGBTQ history.
